2015 Movie Ratings

2015 Total: 47

Legend – 12/31/2015 – Theater – This movie isn’t for everyone, but Tom Hardy sure is great! And Tom Hardy is also great.
3 popcorn rating

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – 12/20/2015 – Theater – Awesome. Simply awesome. Daisy Ridley and John Boyega were perfect choices. Hands down my favorite movie of the year.
4.5 popcorn rating

Sisters – 12/18/2015 – Theater – Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are always good for a laugh! A funny movie, but not for everyone.
3 popcorn rating

In the Heart of the Sea – 12/12/2015 – Theater – Quite an entertaining tale. Nothing amazing, but it kept my attention from start to finish.
3 popcorn rating

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 – 11/27/2015 – Theater – This one was better than Part 1, but only fair in my book. I’m very over these movies. I think the main problem for me was not caring about Katniss. I didn’t find her likable in the movies, whereas I didn’t have that problem with the books.

Spotlight – 11/20/2015 – Theater – Great movie! Definitely worth watching. Eye-opening and sad.
4 popcorn rating

Spectre – 11/8/2015 – Theater – Pretty much as expected.

Preview Screening – 11/5/2015 – Theater

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse – 10/30/2015 – Theater – Fairly entertaining, but nothing special.
2.5 popcorn rating

Bridge of Spies – 10/29/2015 – Theater – I heart you Tom Hanks!
4 popcorn rating

Kill Me Three Times – 10/24/2015 – Instant Download – The title pretty much sums it up! Even Simon Pegg could not save this one.
1.5 popcorn rating

Sicario – 10/3/2015 – Theater – Pretty good movie, just not my type of film. But I will see anything with Emily Blunt in it!
3 popcorn rating

The Intern – 10/1/2015 – Theater – This movie had a pretty bad message and was not very good.
1.5 popcorn rating

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials – 9/19/2015 – Theater – If you read the book, this will seem like a completely different story. Huh?
2 popcorn rating

Preview Screening – 9/17/2015 – Theater

Preview Screening – 9/3/2015 – Theater

American Ultra – 8/24/2015 – Theater – Average movie. Average isn’t always bad!
2.5 popcorn rating

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. – 8/14/2015 – Theater – I liked it! Henry Cavill is great! No Cinema Suites this time… Fork & Screen instead. Also quite enjoyable!
3 popcorn rating

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – 8/6/2015 – Theater – Tom Cruise saves the day again! Not as good as the last MI, but still fun! Enjoyment greatly enhanced by viewing in AMC’s new Cinema Suites!
3 popcorn rating

Mr. Holmes – 7/25/2015 – Theater – Cute little film. You can’t go wrong with Ian McKellen.
3 popcorn rating

Ant-Man – 7/18/2015 – Theater – While I like me some Paul Rudd, the standout of this movie is Michael Peña.
3 popcorn rating

Preview Screening – 7/16/2015 – Theater

Inside Out – 6/27/2015 – Theater – This is one of my least favorite Pixar films, but it was still enjoyable enough.
3 popcorn rating

Jurassic World – 6/20/2015 – Theater – Fun movie, but obviously not even close to the original. But good effort!
3 popcorn rating

Spy – 6/5/2015 – Theater – Loved it!
3.5 popcorn rating

San Andreas – 5/30/2015 – Theater – Hey, it is what it is. You know exactly what you’re getting with this movie. The Rock, his muscles, some cheesy lines and falling buildings.
2.5 popcorn rating

Preview Screening – 5/27/2015 – Theater

Tomorrowland – 5/25/2015 – Theater – So, apparently a lot of people didn’t like this movie.  I did!  I thought all of the kid actors were great, including the 25-year-old “teenager“.  I guess because it’s Disney people were expecting more? But I enjoyed it.
3.5 popcorn rating

Pitch Perfect 2 – 5/16/2015 – Theater – Was the first one a thousand times better? Yes! Did this one still make me giggle? Yes.
2 popcorn rating

Avengers: Age of Ultron – 5/8/2015 – Theater – Yikes, a bit of a snoozefest. How much longer will they keep churning out these superhero movies (that are ALL the same)? I guess until people like me stop paying money to see them.
2 popcorn rating

The Age of Adaline – 5/2/2015 – Theater – Cute little movie. Nothing spectacular, but enjoyable.
2.5 popcorn rating

Furious Seven – 4/18/2015 – Theater – You know exactly what you’re going to get with this  movie. Uh… cars, ladies and cheesy lines. Oh yeah, and a battle to see which star has the biggest muscles. (Duh, Mr. Johnson.) You also get a nice tribute to Paul Walker.

Preview Screening – 4/16/2015 – Theater

Preview Screening – 3/30/2015 – Theater

The Librarian: Quest for the Spear – 3/21/2015 – Instant Download – Is this a good movie? No.  Is it fun? Yes (and cheesy). They even made two more and a TV series out of it! (Which I will get around to watching some day.)
2 popcorn rating

Run All Night – 3/20/2015 – Theater – As Ross said while leaving the theater, “A solid Neeson movie.” I wasn’t sure if he was being sarcastic, but I did enjoy it. And it turns out that he did mean it (non-sarcastically).  I think. Now I just have to wait for Joel Kinnaman to break out as a star (check out The Killing — well, at least the first season).
3 popcorn rating

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water – 3/7/2015 – Theater – Wow, this was a really bad.  I know, I know — should’ve been expected, right?  But I don’t remember The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie being bad. Or has my taste matured? (nope)
1 popcorn rating

Chef – 2/28/2015 – Instant Download – A fun, lighthearted and enjoyable movie!  Good job, Jon Favreau!
3.5 popcorn rating

Oscar Nominated Shorts – 2/21/2015 – Theater – I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to list shorts here, but I’m going to since I sat through 3+ hours of short films — and only enjoyed about 3 or 4 of them? Both live action and animated… some I just looked at Ross and said, “Huh?” Sorry, but I really don’t understand how some were Oscar nominated. At least the best ones won! My rating is for my overall enjoyment.
1.5 popcorn rating

Kingsman: The Secret Service – 2/14/2015 – Theater – What a fun movie! A lot of over-the-top violence, though. You have been warned!
3.5 popcorn rating

Philomena – 2/13/2015 – DVD – Touching and sweet!
3 popcorn rating

Preview Screening – 2/12/2015 – Theater

Jupiter Ascending – 2/07/2015 – Theater – Channing Tatum has silly ears. Mila Kunis cleans some toilets. Stephen Hawking shows his darker side. All in all, generally entertaining.
2.5 popcorn rating

The Boy Next Door – 2/1/2015 – Theater – Umm… sigh.
1.5 popcorn rating

Preview Screening – 1/26/2015 – Theater

American Sniper – 1/17/2015 – Theater – Solid movie, but sort of just another war movie. Sad that it’s a true story.
3 popcorn rating

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – 01/02/2015 – Theater – Jackson should’ve just stopped with The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. You know? End on a high note. I almost fell asleep in this last Hobbit movie. Never a good sign!  Is 1.5 too harsh? Perhaps, but I just really didn’t like it.
